Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care preparation
Prepare Community Care questions with the right regional context.
PayerReady Health helps teams structure Community Care preparation questions before they consult the applicable official route or third-party administrator instructions.
Practical advisory support
Preparation that leaves your team with a clearer next move.
Bring the region, arrangement type, payer or administrator context, and a PHI-free description of the workflow question. Authorization, network participation, claims decisions, and payment outcomes remain outside PayerReady’s control.

A practical way to identify the VA Community Care context and the questions that should be resolved first.
02
Preparation prompts for gathering non-sensitive operational details, current sources, and responsible owners.

Effective September 8, 2026, VA ended the separate precertification step only for care already within a VA authorization; the VA Precertification Portal (VAPP) is offline. The authorization and the Veteran’s referral and Standardized Episode of Care (SEOC) still define the authorized scope. For care beyond that scope, the provider must use VA’s Request for Service process. VA says this change does not affect claims processing or payment; that statement is not a payment guarantee.

Use the Learning Center before a scope discussion.
These free paths pair plain-language workflow context with links to official sources. They do not replace payer instructions, legal advice, coding guidance, compliance advice, or your team’s own operational judgment.

A responsible starting point
Discuss scope before you share details.
Use a PHI-free scope discussion to clarify the payer or workflow question, what preparation may be useful, and whether an advisory engagement fits. We do not promise payer approval, payment, reimbursement, compliance, or a specific outcome.
